Giovanni De Carne was born in Bari, Italy, in 1988. He obtained his Bachelor and Master’s degree at “Politecnico di Bari”, in Bari, in 2011 and 2013 respectively. In 2013 he developed the Master’s thesis at the Distributed Electrical System Laboratory at the EPFL, in Lausanne. He has worked as research assistant at “Politecnico di Bari” from 2011 to 2013, researching on the stability enhancement of the high voltage transmission grids. Currently he is pursuing the doctorate studies at the Chair of Power Electronics of the University of Kiel, within the HEART project, analyzing the Smart Transformer features for the electric distribution grid. He is sponsored by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
